Hi and welcome to my blog!
This is the place where I post my thoughts on (mostly online) poker, especially Texas Hold’em No Limit. Most of my posting has the purpose to keep a log of my progress and place my affiliate links in order to earn a buck or to, but I hope you’ll find some interesting thought-provoking impulses here and there. Feel free to leave me a comment anytime!
In real live, I’m currently trying to get a PhD degree in computer science while working at a major bavarian car manufacturer. If I’m not working or playing poker, I like to go out in my hometown Munich or work out in the gym.
I’m a dedicated cash game player, currently grinding the small stakes. I’ve experimented quite a bit with SNGs with little success, and I believe that ring games is where the serious money is at in online poker. Since I happened to get completely backed by an online buddy for my cash games, I take a more structured approach to the whole game, trying to generate a little side-income (which will hopefully grow considerably in the long term). I play the occassional MTT just for the challenge, but am still waiting for a big cash in those.
You can find me under the name JohnPreston9 at Pokerstars these days, sometimes as MUCFortunato at Full Tilt Poker. I used to play a lot at CDPoker (JohnPreston2000), but don’t play much there lately.
Feel free to say hello if you spot me at a table, I’m always looking for buddies to chat with and discuss about poker!
So long, GL at the tables!
Fortunato/JohnPreston
P.S.: I’ve been asked a lot lately what my poker nicknames mean. When I first started playing online poker 3 years ago, I didn’t know what nickname to choose. So I picked “John Preston”, which is a character in the movie Equilibrium. I’ve been getting tired of this name so far, partly because it sound lame and people tend to think it’s my real name, so for my newer accounts, I picked “Fortunato” with slight variations. Fortunato is originally a character in a short story by Edgar Allen Poe, but I liked the name, 1st because Fortuna is the roman goddess of luck, and 2nd because fortune also means “an amount of money” in english. Since luck and money are two great party of poker, I consider this a good nickname.
